Evaluations

Player evaluations for Rep Teams and pre-season ice for House Teams take place over two weeks.  Evaluation Schedules will be announced in August.

Phase 1 Evaluations - 1st week of Evaluations

Phase 1 Evaluations comprises of skills and scrimmages for players trying out for our Atom, Pee-Wee, Bantam and Midget "A" teams.   Initiation players will also be on the ice that first week. Rosters for the "A" teams will be reduced and the Players still in contention for spots on those teams will play in a series of exhibition games in the following week.

Phase 2 Evaluations - 2nd week of Evaluations

Final rosters for the "A" teams should be determined by the end of the 2nd week depending on when each team is able to play exhibition games.

House "C" Teams

Ice times for all "C" teams will start during Phase 2, although those ice times won't necessarily be in the teams' regular practice slots.  During Phase 2, there will also be an evaluation of "C" Players in those divisions where there will be more than one "C" team, to determine their placement on C1, C2 or C3 teams.  The general plan is to "tier" our "C" teams, but we will be consulting with other associations within PCAHA to ensure that our approach is consistent with that of other associations so that all of our "C" teams are able to play competitive games throughout the season.

Evaluation FAQs

SFHA understands that evaluations can be an exciting yet stressful part of the season.  We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions which will hopefully help you out this September. If there is a question that isn't answered in the FAQs then please have a look at our Player Evaluation Process located here which is a detailed excerpt of sections 16 thru 21 from our Policy Manual.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the rink and for a successful hockey season for all the players and families!
