Girls love to play hockey and they love to compete in Canada’s game.  Girls value the social aspect of playing female hockey because of the teamwork, camaraderie, and the life-long friendships that they make. They value fairness, equity, respect and competitive play.

The Surrey Female Hockey Association supports divisions from ages 5 to 20 (U7 - U21).

For the Initiation (U7 and U9), we suggest that skaters are able to get up without assistance fluently. For the older age groups we suggest that players have the ability to stop and start.

Our association has tiered pools to allow for competitive and house play. Girls are just as competitively driven as boys and our hockey association supports their skill development with paid for development skate sessions.

After Evaluations in early September, teams are typically formed by the middle of September. In late September and all through October, many teams will play exhibition games, and all teams will play approximately 6 - 8 games in a tiering round. By the end of October PCAHA will place the teams into Flights for the regular season.

The regular season runs until the end of January, and February is playoff month. Finals and PCAHA Championship Games are typically played in the first week of March. The PCAHA season for "C" teams will be over by the time Spring Break starts in March.

The BC Hockey Provincial Championship tournament for qualifying U13, U15 and U18 "A" teams takes place over spring break. The top two PCAHA teams from the playoff round qualify for Provincials.

Surrey Falcons belong to the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA). Our league has home and away games between Chilliwack to Whistler, as well as the Sunshine Coast (Gibsons and Sechelt).

From U7 - U18, the girls will be on the ice on average 3 times per week. We include power skating and skill sessions as part of their development.

At the beginning of the season the team decides on tournaments, team events, and wind up in addition to the registration fees. Often teams will have a fundraiser to help offset the cost. A postdated deposit cheque for  the jersey is collected at the beginning of the season. All families are required to volunteer 4 hours per athlete. If the volunteer hours are not completed, there will be an additional $200 fee per athlete.

Yes, teams require help with coaching, safety persons, team manager, treasurer, fundraising, special events, and our own host tournament, Wickfest.
