The Surrey Falcons are extremely proud to announce the following Rep coach appointments for the 2023-2024 season.

She played in the NWHL on the Vancouver Griffins and the BC Breakers.  Following that, Dawn played womens AAA – now called SCWHL – for 15 years.  She also played for Trinity Western University while helping them get their program started.

She played soccer for Langara College and helped with a mentorship for them.

Dawn has coached with Richmond Minor Hockey Association, various ringette teams as well as softball.  She was an instructor with Inside Edge and Chicks With Sticks.

She is looking forward to another season of coaching the U18A1 players.

U15 A1 – Riley Hanberg

Riley grew up playing AAA hockey with South Delta Minor Hockey association.  During this time he was an instructor at the South Delta Hockey school, was selected to the Canada Dry Midget “A” All-star tournament and was awarded the graduating scholarship by the South Delta Hockey Association.

After an eight year break to complete his Doctorate of Optometry he returned to the Lower Mainland and began coaching in minor soccer, baseball, softball and hockey.  His passion for hockey and developing young athletes has allowed him to coach with 25 different hockey teams over the last ten years ranging in age from U7 to U18 in the Cloverdale, Surrey Falcons and Vancouver Selects associations. This culminated in 2021-2022 with coaching the Surrey Falcons U13A1 to a Provincial Championship and then doing it again in the 2022-2023 season with the U15A1 team.

He is known for his dedication to the players on his teams.  He believes minor sports are a microcosm in which our youth can develop and find purpose through team and individual goal setting and the passion and hard work required to achieve these goals.  He is excited to start the new season with the Surrey Falcons U15A1 team.

U13 A1 – Ryan Weber

For the past five seasons, Ryan has coached within the Surrey Falcons and Semiahmoo Ravens hockey associations. Prior to his time with Surrey and Semiahmoo he spent several seasons coaching in the British Columbia Hockey Male Major Midget League, several seasons coaching various levels of minor hockey in the Lower Mainland. His extensive coaching background extends to BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence, having coached the Provincial Male U16 Team BC on three occasions, including a gold medal in 2013. His playing experience began in Richmond, BC and included three years of junior hockey. Ryan holds a High Performance 1 Hockey Canada level certification and as well as an NCCP Level 3 coach designation.
