The following executive members are stepping down from their positions:

Gurpreet Bal:          Ice Allocator
Adrienne Briscoe:  Registrar
Nina Odgers:          Secretary

Gurpreet Bal:
Gurpreet has served as Ice Allocator for the past 7 years.  Over those years I have had the pleasure of working closely and seeing first hand the amount of effort Gurpreet has contributed to ensure that scheduling is completed timely, that we maximize affordable ice while seeking out the best private ice available.  Despite all of this effort perhaps we are most fortunate to have had Gurpreet as our ice allocator because she is a person who has remained steadfast in the objectiveness she has brought to her role over the years ensuring that ice is allocated fairly to each and every team in our association. That commitment has been a primary contributor towards the success of the Surrey Falcon Experience.

Adrienne Briscoe:
Adrienne has served as Registrar of the Falcons for the past 3 years.  As registrar she has ensured that all 280 members of our association are properly registered in a timely and complete manner for tryouts.  While most people have the summer off, Adrienne is busy handling registration when it opens up in June of each year and continues to work on it during the summer months to ensure that all of the players are properly registered for the upcoming season.   One of the greatest challenges resulting from growth that we have encountered over the past few years is ensuring that we manage registration such that we are able to maximize the number of girls wanting to play female hockey in Surrey.   Adrienne has been a key person in making sure we are able to give every girl who applies to the Falcons an opportunity to play for our association.

Nina Odgers:
After serving as Secretary of the SFHA for the past 3 Years Nina Odgers has decided to step down.  I want to thank Nina for the countless hours she has spent coordinating our monthly executive meetings and compiling the minutes.  In addition to her role as secretary she has also taken the lead in coordinating our Vancouver Giants fundraiser which has served as an invaluable source of revenue for the Falcons especially given the fact we could not hold Wickfest the past two years.   In addition she has also coordinated Photo day for the association each year.  During the heavily restricted 2021 Covid season we were one of the few associations to still have team photos thanks to the efforts of Nina.

My gratitude goes out to Gurpreet, Adrienne and Nina for everything they have done for the Falcons.  They represent the best example of the true spirit of volunteerism.

Finally I will be stepping down as President at the end of this year.  This is my 11th year serving on the SFHA executive of which the last 4 yrs I have served as President.   I have truly enjoyed my time with the Falcons and I am proud of the many accomplishments our association has achieved over that time.  Over the last 11 years I have seen our registration grow from a low of 165 players to a high of just under 300 players today.  It has been a pleasure to meet so many wonderful parents and players in our association over the years.  I can’t imagine my family growing up in Surrey without being a part of the Falcons family. Thank you to all of you for your support and I look forward to continue watching Falcons hockey grow in our community.

The success of our organization is solely based on volunteers and we would love for you to get involved. If you would like more information about these roles feel free to reach out to us or find out more on our website under By-Laws and the Policy Manual.  During our AGM we will also be announcing the winners of our Year End Awards.

This year’s AGM will be returning to an in person event and will take place on:
