Hello Members,

As our 2020-21 season comes to an end the Executive requests your input to acknowledge our outstanding Volunteers who made this year a success indicative of the challenges we and the world were presented with over the past year.  Each year the SFHA presents three major awards in the following areas; Coach of the Year Award, Volunteer Service Award, and President’s Merit Award.  Please take a few moments of your time and let it be known how our Volunteers have made an impact. 

 

Coach of the Year

  • Good sportsmanship and citizenship (e.g. involving the team in the community).
  • Respect for the game.
  • Commitment to improve hockey within our association (e.g. mentoring other coaches).
  • Effective leadership to the players of the team.
  • Provided a good environment for the players of the team to develop their hockey skills/abilities and develop their character in a positive manner.
  • Significant improvement in players’ skills and abilities as the season went on.
  • Coached in a fair manner.
  • Balanced competitive play with the principle that minor hockey is meant to be fun.

 

Volunteer Service Award

  • Strong and positive commitment to our association or a team.
  • Good sportsmanship and citizenship (e.g. community involvement).
  • Respect for the game.
  • Commitment to improving our association.
  • Provided a good environment for the players of the team to develop their hockey skills/abilities and/or develop their character in a positive manner.

 

President’s Merit Award

  • Outstanding service to our association for at least three consecutive years.
  • Commitment to the growth of Minor Hockey
  • Demonstrating Sportsmanship and Citizenship

 

The deadline for nominations is Mar. 20.  Awards will be selected by the Executive, and presented at the AGM.  Submissions are anonymous by default, or you may include your name optionally.
