Female Midget AAA Player of the Month – October

BC Hockey announced November 16, 2012 that Mackenzie Wong has been named Female Midget AAA player of the month for October.  Wong sits tied on top of the leaderboard with eight (8) points in eight (8) games with the Fraser Valley Phantom.  The Phantom have played 10 games, and lead the league with a 7-2-1 record.

Mackenzie also played on Team BC at the Women’s Under 18 National Championship last week in Dawson Creek, BC.  Wong scored one (1) goal and two (2) assists in helping Team BC to a fourth place finish.

Mackenzie helps out in the community by volunteering with several programs at her church.

“Mackenzie has started the year as a leader, not only with goals and assists she also has continued to be a strong vocal leader with the team,” said head coach of the Phantom Dean Reed.

Wong was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees.  The runners up in no particular order are as follows:
·         Kylee Style, Pacific Ravens
·         Lauren Briggs, Kootenay Wildcats

The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
